Tribal Basics and the Art of Fusion Series
In this class, students will learn the basics of tribal bellydance but with an emphasis on utilizing this form for fusion with elements of other dance forms, as opposed to use in group improvisation. Class will begin with a warm-up followed by a brief strengthening section. This section is meant to teach the student drills to condition the muscle groups needed to execute the movements correctly and gracefully. New movements will be introduced each week and followed by a review session before cool-down. Fusion elements will mostly be drawn from hip-hop with occasional other influences. The history and evolution of tribal bellydance will also be discussed and costuming and makeup for performance may be covered as time allows.
Students must have basic bellydance knowledge to take the Tribal Fusion course and must have completed either the Discover Bellydance: Session 101 or have prior Tribal Fusion experience with another instructor.
